2026 Chief Justice Thane A. Campbell Lectureship in Law scheduled for March 30
Al Hounsell, Senior Director of AI, Innovation & Knowledge at the international law firm Gowling WLG, will deliver the 2026 Chief Justice Thane A. Campbell Lectureship in Law on March 30, at 4:30 pm.
The lecture, titled 鈥淗uman-Centered Knowledge Work in the Age of AI,鈥 will take place at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre鈥檚 Rotary Auditorium, 100-97 Queen Street, Charlottetown.
Hounsell leads Gowling WLG鈥檚 AI strategy and innovation initiatives, focusing on reimagining how legal services are designed and delivered through advanced technology. With more than a decade of experience in legal innovation, he combines his background in law, entrepreneurship, and software development to build AI-driven processes, streamline legal operations, and enhance client outcomes. His work spans automation, legal design, workflow transformation, and applied AI across the enterprise.
He is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, teaching Legal Innovation, AI, and Technology. He was named one of Canada鈥檚 Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers (2025) and received the International Legal Technology Association鈥檚 Innovative Leader of the Year award (2024), in addition to multiple Canadian Law Awards for Best Use of Technology in a Law Firm.
