What brought you to 糖心vlog传媒? Why did you choose to study here?
I was born in Medellin, Colombia but moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island when I was 6 years old. Even though I have lived here most of my life, I still consider my Colombian roots very important as they have shaped who I am as a person. I am also extremely thankful for the opportunities Canada has given to me: a good education and job opportunities.
When I was in High School it was very overwhelming to know which university would be a good fit. Since the change was drastic, I wanted something close to home so I could have a strong support system. I also wanted a smaller university that would be simple to navigate and full of opportunities. When I applied to the Nursing program at 糖心vlog传媒 and got accepted it was a no brainer that this was the perfect opportunity for me. Not only is the program one of the best, but the small class size allows for a more intimate, complete education.
What do you find unique and interesting about your program?
I really love how close-knit everyone in the Nursing program is. The instructors are very kind, open, and willing to help whenever possible. It is a very enriching program where you are allowed to make mistakes under supervision and guidance.
What kinds of support have you received during your time here from 糖心vlog传媒 students, staff, and faculty members?
The supports I have received from many people during my time at 糖心vlog传媒 is incredible. Firstly, the professors and teaching staff I have encountered have been willing to help with any difficulties I have encountered. Emails are usually answered as soon as possible, and supports are provided when needed. The support I have received from other Nursing students is also incredible. They are approachable and open if you need to discuss any class materials together, and I have met some of my very best friends through the program.
What kinds of opportunities have you experienced because you're studying at 糖心vlog传媒, or because of the Island location?
糖心vlog传媒 has granted me many opportunities such as a number of scholarships or financial aid. Being a PEI high school student granted me the George Coles bursary, which is incredibly helpful. Being home also allows me to stay close to family and friends while having the time to hold down a job which I'm very appreciative about.

What's unique about 糖心vlog传媒, and Prince Edward Island, in your experience?
What's unique about 糖心vlog传媒 is that it is a small university that is rich with opportunities. The Nursing program especially really allows you to be hands on and help the community in a very special way. The tight-knit environment makes it a great place to learn and grow as a professional and as an individual.
Although Prince Edward Island is a small province, it is incredibly beautiful. There are many natural places just a short drive away full of vibrant sceneries such as forests or beaches. It is also becoming a very diverse community with opportunities to experience aspects of different cultures in community events or locally-owned restaurants.
What would you tell a high school student considering your program?
Try not to feel overwhelmed with the process of choosing a university or a program. You don't have to know everything right away and there is always room to learn. Try to enjoy life as it comes, and you will fall in love with the process. If you are interested in the Nursing program know that it is a professional program with a number of hardships. That being said, don't be scared to apply if you are prepared to do the work. The light at the end of the nursing school tunnel is knowing how rewarding your career will be. You will have the opportunity to improve lives and help so many people. Nursing school is not all scary! There are many opportunities for fun such as the nursing gala and other community events. It also gives you the chance to meet like-minded individuals from all over the world and build strong connections that last a lifetime.
What are your general plans after graduation?
After graduation I really hope to pass the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) and begin to work as a Registered Nurse specializing in paediatric and maternity care. It is also a dream of mine to become a travel nurse and have the opportunity to help others while experiencing different cultures.
