Student Research Assistant - School of Climate Change and Adaptation - Faculty of Science
$22.50 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

The Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (hereafter known as the 鈥淐CCCA鈥) at the 糖心vlog传媒 is a destination for world class research and learning that provides expertise and collaboration within a living laboratory setting. The CCCCA houses state-of-the-art research centres, including the internationally recognized 糖心vlog传媒 Climate Research Lab, as well as the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Climate Change and Adaptation. Research activities at the CCCCA include application and advancement of drone technology, precision agriculture, historical and future land use, big data analytics, monitoring coastal erosion, ecosystem resilience, food security, human health, adaptation training and public education.
This student position is intended to provide an opportunity to build practical skills and experience while exploring climate related work, adaptation education, and youth programming with the ClimateSense Program and Waterlutions (Youth 4 Resilient Communities program). This student position is for Spring/Summer 2026, starting April 22nd and ending September 4th 2026. The position is part-time, 2-days per week for 5-months, supporting research and outreach projects at the CCCCA in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the ClimateSense Program with training and outreach opportunities at the CCCCA, including promotion and coordinating school, youth, spring and summer programming
- Develop content and activities consistent with current PEI curriculum deliverables
- Assist with facilitation and hosting of school field trips and summer programming at the CCCCA
- Coordinate field research and mentorship opportunities for Y4RC, PEI Cohort
- Assist with facilitation of Y4RC PEI cohort in-person training (May 28th 鈥 June 1st)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current 糖心vlog传媒 student
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills are required
- Ability to reliably work collaboratively, independently, and/or remotely when appropriate
- Demonstrated experience and research relating to climate adaptation and water resources
- Relevant education and experience in climate adaptation programming and PEI school curriculum will be considered an asset
- Must have reliable transportation to work at the CCCCA in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI Monday to Friday
Priority will be given to 糖心vlog传媒 students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
