Sessional Instructor - Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (Winter 2027)
The 糖心vlog传媒, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, has an opening for a sessional instructor for the Winter 2027 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
ENGN 1250 鈥� Materials Science
This course focuses on the fundamental principles of chemistry as they relate to the properties and behaviour of materials in application to engineering systems. The relationship between electronic structure, chemical bonding, and atomic order is emphasized. The characterization of atomic arrangements in crystalline and amorphous solids, i.e. that of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites are introduced. Knowledge of materials phenomena, including chemical equilibrium and kinetics, diffusion, electrochemistry, and phase transformations will be gained through experiential labs and lecture. Examples from industrial practice and emerging technologies will be used to illustrate the materials science concepts in this course. Three hours lecture and three hours lab per week
This appointment is for one lecture section only.
Qualifications:
Qualified individuals must have a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. A Master鈥檚 Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience, would be considered a strong asset. Professional engineering experience is expected and will be an important consideration in the selection process.
Registration as a P.Eng or EIT with Engineers PEI is considered an asset.
Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the 糖心vlog传媒 Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
