Salary and compensation for this position is in accordance with the approved Faculty of Medicine Remuneration Guidelines and consistent with the Health PEI Physician Services Agreement (PSA) remuneration. Final compensation will vary by specialty.

The Faculty of Medicine at the 糖心vlog传媒 (糖心vlog传媒) invites applications for the position of Physician Lead, Admissions. The Physician Lead will report to the Dean of Medicine and work in close collaboration with the Senior Advisor of Medical Education, Physician leadership, academic committees, University leadership, and community partners. The Physician Lead provides leadership in the development and implementation of admissions processes for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.

During the initial development phase, the primary focus of this role is the design, documentation, and implementation planning of a fair, transparent, and socially accountable admissions framework aligned with the Faculty鈥檚 mission and the accreditation requirements of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). This includes supporting the preparation of associated accreditation materials, developing admissions policies and procedures, and establishing the foundational structures required for future admissions cycles.

The Physician Lead will work collaboratively to ensure that admissions processes reflect principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and social accountability, and support the recruitment of future learners prepared to meet the health needs of Prince Edward Island.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chair and oversee related admissions committees, ensuring transparent, equitable, and mission-aligned selection processes
  • Provide academic leadership in the development of admissions policies, processes, and frameworks related to undergraduate medical education, aligned with institutional priorities and accreditation standards
  • Lead the preparation and documentation of admissions-related components of accreditation materials for the CACMS
  • Collaborate with the Physician Lead, Social Accountability, to develop admissions criteria, selection processes, and pathway initiatives consistent with the Faculty鈥檚 social accountability mission and community health priorities, following principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and transparency
  • Support the establishment of admissions governance structures, including committees, roles, and decision-making processes
  • Work with Faculty leadership and administrative teams to design the operational structure of the admissions cycle, including application review and interview processes, as well as the recruitment, training, calibration, and evaluation of reviewers and interviewers
  • Engage with community partners and stakeholders to inform admissions priorities and support outreach strategies
  • Review best practices in medical school admissions to adapt them in the development of 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Medical Degree admissions model
  • Contribute to planning for future admissions implementation, including reviewer recruitment, training, and evaluation processes
  • Engage with provincial, national, and medical education partners to remain current on evolving best practices in medical school admissions
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine

Liaison & Collaboration

  • The Assistant Dean collaborates broadly across the University, healthcare partners, and community organizations

Committee Responsibilities

  • Participates in Faculty of Medicine and University governance structures and other committees as appropriate to the portfolio and as determined by the Dean

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A medical degree with certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or equivalent
  • Member in good standing of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI
  • Membership in the Medical Society of Prince Edward Island (MSPEI)
  • Appointees must maintain an active appointment to the medical staff of Health PEI (HPEI)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and/or advanced training in medical education, health systems, community engagement, or related fields preferred. Experience in undergraduate medical education and familiarity with medical school admissions processes
  • Experience contributing to the development, review, or implementation of admissions policies, selection criteria, or evaluation frameworks
  • Knowledge of CACMS and other accreditation standards related to admissions
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to equity, diversity, and social accountability in medical education and admissions
  • Strong leadership, governance, and policy development skills
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
