Salary and compensation for this position is in accordance with the approved Faculty of Medicine Remuneration Guidelines and consistent with the Health PEI Physician Services Agreement (PSA) remuneration. Final compensation will vary by specialty.

The Faculty of Medicine at the 糖心vlog传媒 (糖心vlog传媒) invites applications for the position of Physician Lead, Faculty Affairs. Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and working in close collaboration with the Senior Advisor of Medical Education, the Physician Lead provides academic leadership in the development of faculty affairs structures and processes within the Faculty of Medicine. 

This role is central to developing and sustaining a strong, engaged faculty complement who contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education at 糖心vlog传媒. The Physician Lead will foster collaboration between academic programs, healthcare partners, community-based physicians and health professionals to ensure excellence in clinical teaching, learner experience, and patient care. 

As the Faculty of Medicine continues to establish and expand its educational programs, the Physician Lead will play a key role in building faculty structures, policies, and supports that align with accreditation expectations, institutional priorities, and provincial health system needs. They will support the preparation of accreditation documentation and ensure alignment of faculty-related structures with accreditation standards and institutional priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership in the recruitment, appointment, onboarding, engagement, development, recognition, and retention of faculty across 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 clinical education environment
  • Lead the development and maintenance of standardized expectations and requirements for faculty re-appointments and credentialing
  • Support faculty development initiatives that enhance teaching excellence, competency-based education, and professional growth
  • Collaborate with Health PEI, community partners, and Faculty leadership to align clinical education with health system priorities, a culture of quality assurance, and accreditation requirements
  • Contribute to medical education planning and the strategic development of clinical academic capacity within Prince Edward Island
  • Lead the development of policies and frameworks supporting faculty engagement and academic progression
  • Ensure alignment with accreditation standards across undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and support institutional readiness for accreditation reviews
  • Advocate for faculty perspectives and needs within Faculty leadership and governance
  • Support the academic integration and career progression of faculty within the Faculty of Medicine
  • Promote a positive professional climate, including attention to faculty wellness, inclusion, and engagement
  • Support leadership development, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities for faculty
  • Develop and monitor metrics to assess faculty engagement, experience, and program effectiveness
  • Advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation initiatives within faculty recruitment, development, and recognition

Liaison & Collaboration

  • The Physician Lead, Faculty Affairs collaborates broadly across the University, the Faculty of Medicine, and external clinical and professional partners to advance the mission of the faculty and strengthen clinical academic engagement
  • Collaborate with the Physician Leads of UGME, PGME, Social Accountability, Research, and other portfolios to ensure integration across the educational continuum
  • Foster strong relationships between faculty, academic leadership, and healthcare partners to support high-quality teaching, mentorship, and clinical learning environments

Committee Responsibilities

  • Participate in Faculty of Medicine and University governance structures and other committees as appropriate to the portfolio and as determined by the Dean

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A medical degree with certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or equivalent
  • Member in good standing of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI
  • Membership in the Medical Society of Prince Edward Island (MSPEI)
  • Appointees must maintain an active appointment to the medical staff of Health PEI (HPEI)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in medical education, health systems, community engagement, or related fields. Preference will be given to demonstrated experience and/or training in medical education, leadership, and quality improvement
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical education, scholarship, research, and creative works
  • Knowledge of various medical disciplines, related university programs and professional associations, especially primary care and generalist specialties
  • Overall knowledge of the medical education system in Atlantic Canada
  • Experience in clinical teaching within undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or clinical settings
  • Advanced training in leadership, quality improvement, or medical education preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working within distributed or community-based medical education contexts is an asset
  • Understanding of accreditation frameworks, competency-based education, and faculty development principles
