The Office of Graduate Studies and Research at the Atlantic Veterinary College, 糖心vlog传媒, invites applications for a 2-year contract full-time Shellfish Industry Research and Partnership Liaison Coordinator with the potential for extension. The Atlantic Veterinary College has an established aquatic health program which includes research activities with aquaculture and the public fisheries in the Atlantic region. Expertise at the AVC includes pathology, farm health and production management, epidemiology, molecular diagnostics, virology, bacteriology, immunology, parasitology and pathogenesis, applicable to mollusc, crustacean, and finfish health and production. Based on AVC鈥檚 expertise, existing involvement in providing services to regional aquaculture industries, and special funding for applied regional innovation, AVC faculty wish to expand clinical and research-based programs directed at shellfish health. The successful applicant will join AVC鈥檚 established aquatic health program.

Under the leadership of a Steering Committee, comprised of 糖心vlog传媒 senior leadership members, provincial government and industry representatives, the Shellfish Industry Research and Partnership Liaison will work with AVC/糖心vlog传媒 faculty, staff, students as well as provincial government and industry partners in the development and implementation of a conceptual approach to a long-term shellfish health program that addresses current and future shellfish industry needs.

The Liaison will foster a culture of collaborative research excellence by championing the development of both external and internal partnerships. Through these partnerships, industry stakeholders, government and academic researchers will work together to design and implement approaches that address industry-related and applied research questions, ultimately supporting the growth and health of the shellfish industry.

The Liaison will have project management responsibilities for the related shellfish research projects at 糖心vlog传媒. The position is responsible for identifying and scheduling project deliverables and coordinating the research teams to ensure successful project execution.

Along with 糖心vlog传媒 Research Services and Research Partnerships and Innovation teams, the incumbent will manage contract and agreement obligations between 糖心vlog传媒 and external stakeholders and will represent 糖心vlog传媒 at project meetings.

In coordination with industry and university faculty partners, this position will be responsible for the development of multiple research project plans including scope, goals, budget, strategy, and scheduling.  This position would contribute to identifying and sourcing funding specifically for the implementation of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster relationships with all factions of the shellfish industry on PEI
  • Develop internal and external collaborative partnerships related to shellfish health research by connecting with AVC/糖心vlog传媒 faculty, students, 糖心vlog传媒 Research Partnerships and Innovation Team, academia, industry and governments at the regional, national and international levels to increase internships, joint projects, and externally funded initiatives originating from coordinated engagement
  • Promote and engage in health research initiatives relevant to the shellfish sector that generates peer-reviewed research outputs and applied studies led by researchers and pathologists that advance understanding of disease causes and inform provincial policy and industry practices
  • Represent 糖心vlog传媒 at conferences, workshops, project meetings or other events, as required and provide timely meeting reports to all stakeholders
  • Coordinate research efforts among researchers, students, industry and governments
  • Identify and manage any problems that arise within partnerships
  • Work with the Directors of Diagnostic Services and Animal Resources at the AVC in developing and implementing effective research projects that integrate diagnostic practice with research to improve understanding of shellfish health, disease etiology and support evidence-based prevention and control of shellfish diseases
  • Cooperatively plan and schedule project timelines and milestones

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A relevant four-year post-secondary bachelor's degree
  • A graduate degree in a related field is preferred
  • At least three years related work experience in the shellfish industry
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal, collaborative, and communication (both oral and written) skills
  • An ability to work independently and as a member of a team, exercising a high degree of judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Project management experience, including the ability to establish priorities and project timelines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • An understanding of university processes and the roles of the various units on campus would be an asset
